Brentwood Fire: Palisades Fire Moves Closer to Residential Areas
A significant fire, known as the Palisades Fire, has affected the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, prompting mandatory evacuations.
The fire began earlier in the week and has been fueled by high winds and dry conditions.
As of January 10, 2025, it has burned over 22,660 acres and was reported to be 11% contained. Firefighters, supported by resources from multiple states, are using water drops and fire retardant to combat the blaze.
Residents in parts of Brentwood and nearby areas, including Mandeville Canyon, have been evacuated for their safety. Several homes and local landmarks have already been destroyed.
Emergency shelters have been set up to assist displaced residents, and authorities have urged the public to stay away from the affected zones.
The fire is part of a series of blazes in Southern California, with officials highlighting the role of severe windstorms in worsening conditions. Governor Gavin Newsom has deployed additional resources, including aircraft and ground crews, to help combat the wildfires across the region.
